And we always hear from folks both friends and strangers, “Oh I’m so envious.” When I hear that I think, why don’t these folks take a chance and go after something that makes them happy. Something that makes them feel alive, something that admittedly may challenge them in some way, but may just be the best thing they ever do. And maybe traveling in an RV isn’t what they are really envious of. Maybe it’s having the freedom to do what they want and when. Maybe their envy stems from not wanting to live in fear but that they can’t risk going after a dream. It is my hope that life for not just Americans but for all becomes more hopeful and happy - that more people tune out the negativity around them from individuals, politicians, and our TV sets - that people begin to take stock of what is truly important in their lives and work on relationships, making a meaningful livelihood, and following their dreams. | I believe that too many Americans are afraid of going after their dream, afraid of failure, afraid of economic insecurity, afraid to show their true feelings, to take a chance on love, happiness, a different future. When we sold our belongings, quit lucrative work and set out in our RV four years ago, we threw caution to the wind. We vowed we wanted to travel and see amazing things, experience life away from the stresses of work, and we wanted to do it before our bodies fail us or something happens and we can’t appreciate the lifestyle. Over these four years, we have met and talked with so many people that say 'we want to do that', or 'we wanted to do that, BUT...' (finish the sentence with dozens of different excuses). |
